Good, general text book
Reviewed in the United States on 13 July 2016Verified Purchase
My professor was nice enough to suggest purchasing an older version of Exploring Psychology, as the newer one has the same information. I purchased a used paperback version of this textbook. The only wear and tear was the corners folded up a little. The information in the text book was actually easy to read and understand. The sides have pictures, diagrams, and definitions to help your understanding as you read. This version of the text book has the same information as my friend's, who has the newer version. I would suggest this to anyone taking an Intro psychology class, you will find all the information you need right here.

What makes us do the things we do
Reviewed in the United States on 20 October 2012Verified Purchase
I bought this book as it was required for my online college study of Psychology. I was thoroughly amazed about the history of psychology going as far back as 387 B.C. to Plato, who believed that "the brain is the seat of mental processes" up to what extent that brain is being used today. I also liked the boldfaced concepts with their defintions and pronunciations in the margin on each page this made it easier for me when revising. Psychology is not a subject that I would have chosen to study but while reading this book I found answers to various unanswered questions. My final paper was on the subject of Motivation.I received an "A" grade for this class,so,buy this book and enjoy learning more about this fascinating subject.

4 Stars, but don't hold me to it..
Reviewed in the United States on 16 February 2016Verified Purchase
My rating is based on my experience with my college class- the only reason that I needed the book. The book was very well written and helpful. I gave a 4 rather than a 5 because with my experience I was not able to utilize the book as much as I feel like I could've. My professor assigned the book, but never used it until it came time for tests. My experience with the book brought me to have to give 4 stars because I can't say that I used the book in its entirety. From what I did use, I would recommend as a study aid. At the end of each chapter is a thorough review that is helpful.

The most interesting required reading I've ever had!
Reviewed in the United States on 18 April 2011Verified Purchase
I LOVE this book! I bought it because it was required for a college course I was taking, not expecting much from it, since college books tend to be pretty boring in my opinion, but I ended up loving it! It is interesting to read as well as easy to read! The language is simple enough to understand and its organized well so that you're not overwhelmed by huge blocks of text. If you have any interest in psychology at all, I'd reccomend this book for casual reading and if you're ordering it for class, be glad your professor choose a good book. Hope you like it as much as I do!

Think carefully before buying loose leaf books
Reviewed in the United States on 23 August 2012Verified Purchase
A word of caution to those who would like to spend a little less on a looseleaf book. If you want to re-sell it, you obviously want to keep it in very good condition. I bought mine and then put it in a 3-ring binder. This quickly begins to tear your book up. So instead of the traditional plastic binder with metal rings, I went to Walmart and had to buy a $12 special notebook. It is flexible cloth and cardboard covers with flexible rubber rings. If you buy loose leaf, please be prepared to spend that much on a proper notebook for it. If you don't care about selling it back, then you could opt for the metal and plastic binders and it will probably last you the whole semester. By the time I bought the loose leaf and the binder, I had paid the same amount as a bound book. If it were a more dramatic price difference, I would definately go loose leaf, even with the extra trouble.
