After a laparoscopy I was diagnosed with severe Endometriosis last week and ordered this book the next day. The book arrived less than 3 days later with Amazon's free delivery - very impressed, great service!!

Over the past 2 days I have devoured all the information given in this very informative easy-to-read book. I now feel more informed and prepared for my first specialist appointment in 2 weeks. I think it's always good to know what options I may be faced with and this book has helped to prepare me in understanding what the Endo specialist will inevitably be talking about. There's nothing more daunting than not knowing what will be suggested and not thoroughly understanding what a doctor is talking about.

In summary this book has given me a positive outlook and I would absolutely recommend to EVERYONE!

2.0 out of 5 stars Covers too much mainstream stuff with too litlle detail for each bit.

Having had endometriosis for 22 years, I have been found unfit for work, am facing chemotherapy injections and a second series of major surgery, so for me, this book only told me what I had already found on the internet and at endometriosis charity websites, and what most people assume to know about endometriosis. I appreciate that as it is a little known disease, the way this illness is treated is usually with sweeping generalisations for a mainstream doctors, but the book is somewhat overwhelming in the way that it does not focus much on the psychological impact, or things that a patient can do to reduce stress and balance hormones. It does not cover the gory truth about the surgeries or give stats, although it is well written and layed out in a straight forward manner. My issue with it is that it does not consider combination treatment, give advice on diet, or lay it on the line about what is really out there for sufferes. I think you'd be best off joining an endometriosis charity support group and looking at lifstyle changes, looking into your rights over treatment and investing in both endo diet books AND books about candida albicans, which has HUGE links to endo. Find what works for yo out of a selection of books. I guess this is a good starter for someone who doesn't know much about the illness, but I think it covers too much and not in enough detail.

This book is easy to read and keeps it real, especially if you are just starting to find out what is wrong or you haven't got a diagnosis yet as it explains diagnosis tests etc however even for women like myself how has had years of genealogical problems it was interesting. Doesn't use jargon without explaining, may help you discuss your options throughout your treatment especially if like me you feel you haven't been able to manage or control your condition. Informative details and diagrams for women and their partners/families who are suffering with endometriosis or any pelvic pain issues. Quite an empowering book for women with suffer with this condition.
