Since New Practical Chinese Reader was published in 2002, it has been well received by teachers and learners of Chinese around the world. In contrast to its first edition, the explanations of the text are designed next to each text to facilitate students. Users can download the traditional Chinese version of the texts for free. All the reading materials and illustrations in the accompanying workbook are updated.
New Practical Chinese Reader (2nd Edition) Textbook 3, with altogether 12 lessons, tells interesting stories about the life of several foreign students and their friendship with their Chinese friends and teachers. It also introduces the customs and culture integrating daily life.
A CD of MP3 file is attached to the book, with the texts, new words, key sentences and dialogue practice recorded in it.

    The New Practical Chinese Reader series is a very good way of learning Chinese. This is in fact also the textbook we use at the University I am currently studying Chinese at. The characters, grammar structures and usually also the themes you learn in each chapter are very useful.

    The only thing I would say isn't that good about this book (and the NPCR series in general) is that the explanations of grammar structures might be rather confusing and incomprehensible unless one is familiar with linguistic terms beyond the level of verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs etc.
    On the plus side, a CD with audio tracks come with this book and you can also go on youtube and watch the videos for each of the texts (these can be often be quite amusing to watch ^^).
    I would recommend this book especially to someone who has worked their way through NPCR 1 and 2, but if you've been learning Chinese for 1-2 years, and depending on the intensity of your learning progress, it would also be very useful for enhancing our Chinese skills.
