I rented this textbook because it was required for a class I took and for a rental, I think it was pretty clean and didn't have a lot of writing or marks on it. The book itself didn't have much if any damage though you can see that it's been used. The rental policy says you can make some marks/highlights so I found it useful when I wanted to highlight something important. I enjoyed reading/taking notes on this textbook as it was heavily used in my class. Very relevant materials and interesting too. I would have wanted to buy it to keep a copy if I had the money for it.

Dreams puzzled early man, Greek philosophers spun elaborate theories to explain human memory and perception, Descartes postulated that the brain was filled with 'animal spirits,' and psychology was officially deemed a 'science' in the 19th century. In this Seventh Edition of AN INTRODUCTION TO THE HISTORY OF PSYCHOLOGY, authors Hergenhahn and Henley demonstrate that most of the concerns of contemporary psychologists are manifestations of themes that have been part of psychology for hundreds--or even thousands--of years. The book's numerous photographs and pedagogical devices, along with its biographical material on key figures in psychology, engage readers and facilitate their understanding of each chapter. 5.0 out of 5 stars A+ Book.
Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseI like it a lot, actually. My professor doesn't teach what's in the book though. Instead he paraphrases everything so the book, in his class, is technically useless. However, when you read the book on your own and don't have to deal with crappy professors then it is a very informative and enjoyable read. It helped me touch up upon the history of psychology and the systems put in place that brought us to where we are today. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to touch up on their history of psychology and also learn more about the systems that used to be or still are utilized in the field.
