I love this introductory text about micro-controllers, it encompasses all the important aspects of micro-controller features such as interrupts, serial input/output etc. However this is an older version of the book, would recommend a newer version for more up to date knowledge. Also it does not have specific details regarding any PIC chips or Freescale chips, so it is great for just an introduction or an reference not a practical handbook.
