About the Author

Mark H. Anshel is a professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Safety at Middle Tennessee State University. He has consulted with sports teams, ranging from youth sports to professional levels, and has applied the sport psychology literature in both medical and corporate settings. He has consulted with cardiac and pulmonary patients undergoing exercise rehabilitation in hospital settings, consulted with exercisers to enhance exercise performance and adherence in fitness programs, and applied performance psychology concepts in helping corporate clients to reach and sustain high performance under pressure. He is also the author of Aerobics for Fitness (Fifth Edition) and editor of the Dictionary of Sport and Exercise Sciences. He is an active member of the American Psychological Association, Division 47 (Exercise and Sport Psychology), the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology, and the Stress and Anxiety Research Society.
