Bruce Colbert is the Director of Allied Health at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He is a passionate teacher and writer whose main goal is to make the subject material come alive for the students. Having some learning disabilities as a young child forced him to develop creative ways to learn material that he utilizes in his textbooks and DVDs. He may still have some learning disabilities as evidenced by continuing to play competitive basketball after three knee surgeries and now well into his 50's. He feels learning should be engaging, relevant, challenging and even fun. His main writing interests are medically related topics and "softer skills" development such as stress and time management, critical and creative thinking and communication issues.

Another reviewer posted that this was not the correct textbook for the AHIMA Anatomy & Physiology course, however that is not correct. I am 3/4 of the way though the AHIMA A&P course, and I can attest that this is indeed the correct textbook to use. Might I suggest though that, if you can find it, that you also order the A&P 2nd Edition workbook to accompany the textbook. The soft-bound workbook is also titled, "Anatomy & Physiology for Health Professions:..." with the words "Workbook to Accompany" written above that at the top of the book cover. This workbook is written by the same author (Bruce J. Colbert), published by Pearson, and is meant to compliment and supplement the main textbook. I would also highly recommend that you make sure that the A&P textbook that you purchase includes the accompanying A&P CD. This invaluable learning tool includes learning games, chapter review quizzes and other media helps that you will use as you go through each and every chapter of the textbook. I highly recommend that as you take this course, that you access the entire gamut of available A&P materials and helps which include this textbook, the included textbook CD, the accompanying workbook, and of course the online learning material from AHIMA.
