Educational Psychology for Learning and Teaching introduces you to key theories of development and learning to help you understand how learners learn, and how educators can be more effective in their teaching practice. Featuring current research on the various dimensions of learning and teaching alongside traditional theories, it provides a clear framework of theory and evidence that supports modern education practices. Taking a comprehensive approach, this text investigates how to apply psychology principles to education contexts to enhance learning and teaching quality, particularly for accommodating individual student needs. This wholly Australian and New Zealand text caters for those who are planning to work with any age range from early childhood to adolescence and beyond. With a focus on resilience in education settings, the discussion of creativity alongside intelligence and a broader discussion on diversity, this new edition is up-to-date for the pre-service teacher.

Very relevant book to my studies, text was engaging and interesting. The author didnt try and sound more important or intelligent than they are. If you are studying teaching it interested in education, this book is a must recommend (especially if your book list calls for it :p haha)

poor printing quality. The font is very small and faint, and the paper is very thin. for a book this big one should at least be able to read it comfortably, I am regretting this purchase and wishing I bought an e-book instead.

Authors are confused and consistently mix up theories such as incorrectly classifying constructivism under the umbrella of cognitivism. They have 2 chapters on Cognitivism for some reason, which are separated by other unrelated chapters; but then have cognitivism at the start and intelligence at Ch 9 (which for some strange reason is combined with 'creativity'). The book structure is illogical. It should be 1. Intro. 2. Understanding Development. 3. Behaviourism, 4. Constructivism, 5. Cognitivism, 6. Humanist 7. Motivation 8. Sociocultural, 9. Special needs, 10. Planning for positive classrooms, 11, strategies and techniques, 12. ICT (this is so embedded a chapter is pointless IMO), 13. Evaluate and report 14. Reflective Practice and professional development, or whatever. They try too hard to sound academic in naming chapters and feels like this book as written by an inept committee instead of a single author with real classroom experience and sound academic understanding. Ed. Psych is all about strategies and there is none of this i.e. where is the chapter on Behaviour Management or Instructional Strategies - this is fundamental to Ed. Psych. This edition should not be used which is a shame as it would only take a quick edit to sort the mess out and they would sell 1000s more copies.
