5.0 out of 5 stars Buzzed about Buzzed
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI have been counseling for 13 years and spent a lot of that time in the addiction field. I heartily recommend this book for anyone in the field or a layman trying to understand addictions. It's the best book out there. It is down to earth. No psych speak, just everyday language. It contains wonderful content and have used this to teach addicts about addiction. It covers all the common drugs. It also has a section on how the brain works, how the addiction process works. It is a very complete book. If there is a down side, they don't cover the most recent drugs, like K2. I'm sure that will be covered in the next edition. If you are looking to buy one book this year, this is the one to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read for someone suffering
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI bought this book for my brother who is currently spending some time in jail for drug related issues. He and the other inmates found the information in this book eye opening. I have not read this book but couldn't be happier that I made this purchase. He shared with me some of his new found insights like how pathetic he felt when all it took was reading about his drug of choice adderall to send him craving it. He knew he was an addict but he didn't understand the hold that the drug had on him until his reaction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseTeaching a course on Drugs and Behavior for the last 10 years, I have to say that this is one of the best books out there. One of the course goals is examining substance use and abuse in a critical manner; free from the political slants often encountered in other texts. This is a straight forward, rational (and fun) presentation of facts. A must have for any serious educator or someone who wants real information without a lot of unnecessary hype.

4.0 out of 5 stars very good book to inform not just users but the public at large and anyone who is considering drug use
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI bought this book for my son who just turned thirteen.
I personally know quite a bit about the drug scene from my
younger days and I want my children to be better informed
about drugs and this book seems to give good information about a wide
variety of drugs that I can use to educate my children.Telling your kids that
drugs are bad is probably worse than saying nothing at all.Kids are curious
and drugs are amazing molecules that can change your entire perception of
the world and the way you think. But if you only tell your kids that drugs make
you feel bad or that they can kill you, your telling them a half truth and their not
going to be fooled by it.Speak the whole truth to your children and they are more
likely going to make informed wise decisions.
