5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent coverage of a critical field. Recommended.
Verified PurchaseExcellent up to date coverage of the area with lots of critical thinking support for students. Usability (Android app) could be improved by hyperlinks from table of contents to pages. Recommended.
Anyone studying or working in e.g. counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, coaching or training and not from a psychology background would find this is an excellent resource. IMHO many texts in these fields give only a superficial overview of these concepts (nothing wrong in that, in principle) but often leaves people asking for more understanding. The content and structure makes this a very useful resource and a good starting point.
Regarding ethics: This is an academic book, not a training manual and includes a comprehensive section in research ethics with useful examples thought the text. However, given the ubiquity of psychology in modern society and especially the workplace, I personally feel it is important that books such as this should also now include at least a paragraph on professional ethics including CPD, competencies and legal boundaries, if only to help the student appreciate the wider context of applying this knowledge outside the academic environment.
An excellent resource.
