About the Author
DR. CHARMINE E. J. HARTEL is Head of Management and Professor of Human Resource Management and Organisational Development at The University of Queensland. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Australian Human Resource Institute and Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management. Professor Hartel is recognised internationally as a leading expert in the areas of workplace design and wellbeing. Her pioneering work on the characteristics of positive work environments has identified a number of the drivers of unhealthy and toxic work environments along with the leadership and human resource management strategies and practices to turn such situations around. Professor Hartel is the recipient of five awards for innovation in organisational practice and numerous research grants and contracts, including nearly $3 million in Australian Research Council funding. Her work appears in over 60 book chapters and 90 refereed articles, which have appeared in journals such as British Journal of Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management Review, Journal of Management, Academy of Management Review, Industrial Marketing Management, Leadership Quarterly and Journal of Applied Psychology. She is co-editor of the annual book series Research on Emotion in Organizations and an Executive Member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management and the U.S. Academy of Management (Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division).
DR. YUKA FUJIMOTO is a senior lecturer in human resource management in the School of Management and Marketing at Deakin University. Her research interest lies in the area of diversity inclusion, work and community interactions and human-oriented human resource management practices. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Asia-Pacific Journal of Human Resource Management, Australian Journal of Management and Cross-Cultural Management: International Journal. She has been acting as a regular reviewer for Human Resource Management and serves as a part of reviewer panel for the Research and Practice in Human Resource Management Journal. Her research has been recognised with best papers at prestigious international conferences such as the Academy of Management, the Asia Academy of Management and the International Conference on Emotions and Organizational Life.
