In the immediate aftermath of the 2016 presidential election young people and workers took to the streets throughout the country to protest what they rightly regard as a catastrophic outcome. In this lecture, we will examine the domestic and international repercussions of the victory of Donald Trump. We will explain the role played by the Democratic Party in creating the conditions which allowed for the rise of a fascistic billionaire to the presidential office, and address the most urgent question facing the international working class, that of war.

What is behind the media drive to paint the Trump victory in racialist terms such as “whitelash”? What is the significance of the recent groveling of Wall Street and the Democratic Party establishment to the new Trump administration in the aftermath of the lost election? What is the way forward in mobilizing against a Trump presidency and in the struggle against war?

Join the International Youth and Students for Social Equality at SUNY Geneseo for a discussion of these important questions.
