Reviews

The unit is well structured and the course notes are wonderfully self contained. These notes go into more detail than the lectures, and could probably be published as a book - no need to worry if you miss a lecture! Furthermore, the 1035 lectures offer an incredibly interesting insight into all things maths, from applications of dot product by Netflix to recommend TV shows, to a teaser of Real analysis.

The unit is very well-organized. Professor's Burkard lectures were very fun, interesting and easy to understand. In the workshops we were solving problems in small groups in front of whiteboards. There is no need to buy recommended textbook, we have never used it. The lecture notes are well-written and contain a lot of problems for practice. In addition, there are weekly problem sets. I would recommend attending lectures, workshops and doing all problems in the problem sets. The unit is challenging, but it's not impossible to get a good mark if one works hard.
