Great subject if you want to dip your toe into business analytics, a bit dry at times though.

I can say this was a great subject to anyone who never skipped lessons and any student who put effort to learn. I passed just fine

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2017

It is a very chill subject, if you only want to pass, as there are only 8 lectures and 9 computer labs throughout the 12 weeks. Prepared your weekly homework as it will get you good marks on the quizzes (weight 24% of the unit so yeah quizzes are your life-saver). The assignment is difficult as you will have to do further research outside of what the task asks you to do. To get D or HD in this course, you do have to put some effort throughout the semester and practice as many past exams as you can before the final

Brett Inder is a great lecturer

Relatively straight forward compulsory commerce unit, be warned, the textbook is not needed whatsoever. All learning is performed through the weekly homework, which involves worded instructions uploaded online used in correspondence to an excel file, in order to teach you the basic skills while explaining their applications. As such, you are tested on a weekly basis in the comp lab sessions, where your best 8 out of 10 quizzes contribute as 23.5 percent of your mark. Lectures are not necessary, as they go over specific cases and practical examples which are not related to the examination. Final tip, the examination adopts a slightly different style compared to the weekly quizzes, in the sense that the questions are slightly more open ended and it may be difficult to know for sure where the mark allocations are. In this sense its useful to review the comp lab quizzes, the homework pdf's, and the revision lecture, though the past exams vary, hence this inconsistency makes the exam somewhat harder to revise for than usual. all in all a decent unit, however the inconsistency of exam style, and the fact that all learning can be done completely independantly without attending any lectures detracts from the unit.

Super chill subject. Weekly tests done in class help test the unit and aren't too difficult - exam is straightforward enough. Provides a good introduction to the subject as a major

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2016

Slightly boring but easiest subject in commerce. Higher level stats make this subject make more sense and you then understand how this was the foundation.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2014

Not as scary of a course as it seems on the outset. The lecturer breaks everything down, and if you do a couple of practice exam questions prior to the exam, you'll see they all have a fairly similiar flavour!

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2011

Seems to have a sudden increase in difficulty in the second half of the semester, but the lecturer makes the usually dry content more relatable.
