Taste Baguette, Menzies Building

Organised by:
SEED SocioEconomic Engagement and Development

When we realised we couldn’t afford Netflix, Monash SEED thought hard about what we could do with all our newfound spare time… so we’ve decided to bring some of the most prominent figures in creating social impact to Clayton Campus, and have lunch with them instead. And even better, you’re all invited!

Change the World and chill is a new wave of guest speaker event. Say goodbye to uncomfortable lecture theatres and impersonal, disconnected speakers. We want to give students the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the ways in which they can change the world in a relaxed, casual environment where you can actually engage with a speaker.

For our first event we’ve invited the Sales Manager of 40K, Tom Gibson to come and chat with us. 40K is an organisation that runs several subsidiaries including ‘40K Globe’ and '40K Plus'. '40K Globe' is a 1 month internship program based in India, designed to train Australian tertiary students on social enterprise by taking what they’ve learnt in the classroom, and applying it to a real world scenario. '40K Plus' aims to deliver a high quality education program at an affordable price to any child living in any village around the world through tablet technology.

Tom Gibson will talk about his experiences at 40K, the pros and cons of the 40K model, and whatever you ask him to – it’s an event driven by the questions *you* ask. Tom will also be bringing some 40K products to sell such as Laptop Sleeves and Tote Bags for a special discount to those who come!

It’s also a great chance to meet likeminded students, who are similarly passionate about creating a better world.
