When:
2 March, 2016

Location:
Monash University Clayton

Organised by:
Shakespeare Company

The Monash Shakespeare Company’s Semester One production is As You Like It, the tale of love, cross dressing and bothersome, sometimes evil relatives. All in a forest full of possibility and bad poetry. It is an ensemble performance with an array of colourful characters and more songs than any other show by the Bard.

The production will feature music written especially for the play by Laura Marling, as well as an onstage band.

Auditions will be held March 2nd, 3rd and 4th, from 9:30am to 5pm, in 45 minute slots throughout the day. Callbacks will be on the following Monday the 7th. Sign-up sheets will be in the MUST corridor from O Week.

Performance dates are April 28th - May 7th and you must be available for at least three days over the Easter break for rehearsals.

You will need to prepare a song, and we would like to hear a folk/rock song that is similar to the style of the show (Ben Folds, The Whitlams, Angus and Julia Stone etc.). We ask that you DO NOT sing a song from any musical or anything by Laura Marling. You can bring a backing track, accompany yourself on your own instrument (there may not be a piano available) or sing a cappella, as no accompanist will be provided. For any questions about music, feel free to contact William Yates.

Please note, not all roles have individual singing parts, so you will also need to be able to sing and harmonise in a group.

Acting wise, you will not need to prepare anything. Scripts will be provided for a cold read, although you will have some time during the audition to practice with them.

We look forward to seeing you there!
Alyssa, Kat and Will.
