Easy Unit, and gives a good basic understanding of Marketing, was over all a fun unit which I enjoyed doing

Very very easy subject. Just make sure you leave enough time before the final exam to get familiar with all of the terminology. A lot of the content is similar to HSC business studies.

super dry subject but really important for future marketing subjects as you learn the basics that all marketing theories are based on.

I did MKTG101 semester 1 2016. As I am majoring in Marketing I found the content of the course really interesting. There's a lot of content to memorise- don't leave it to the last minute to study for the end of semester exam. You must have a copy of the textbook as the lecture notes are literally taken from the textbook, in the same format. There's a heavy focus on group work as every week in tutorials you present a small aspect of your marketing plan. I really enjoyed the group work, however if you are not so fortunate to get such a cooperative group this part can be quite stressful. Overall I really enjoyed this unit. I felt like it was very practical as you create a marketing plan just like you would in the workforce. 4/5 stars.

good unit overall. Thing that pissed me off was that they wouldn't provide answers for the past papers for the exam. Quizzes are ridiculous - 20 minutes for 20 questions, always run out of time. tutes just watching presentations each week - boring.

Tutor: Yoon. Content: Easy, the quiz answers can be found straight out of the textbook. The lecture was straight from the textbook. Exam: If you did commerce in highschool this will be extremely easy. Overall: Get a good group, don't leave things in the last minute and revise weekly! *This goes for any other unit* Goodluck ^^

Really give good basic understanding on daily marketing process

Marking is tough in this subject. The bi-weekly case studies and the main assignment were both marked extremely tough in my (and others that I spoke to) opinion. I enjoyed the content though and if you read the previous weeks material it makes the lectures a lot easier to understand.

I found the lectures terrible, stopped going after the 2nd week, tutorials were good, allowed you to talk about topics and made it interesting. You do need to keep up to date, reading the text book isn't enough, you really need to understand it to do well in the quizzes. the group assignment wasn't overly hard but it really depends on your team, 2 of my team of 5 dropped out, 1 wasn't competent. It was very time consuming and stressful as you were relying on your team members. But everyone has to weigh everyones participation, so in that sense I thinking it ended up being fair. I found the Exam really good, some multiple choice and a few long answers which were fairly easy (as long you know have done the readings).
