The unit is highly organised, the material is relevant to both those studying finance and also those just studying as a Commerce foundation unit. Narelle presents the material particularly well.

Honestly great introductory course into finance and the lecturer Narelle is so good and wants you to pass. I cannot stress this enough - you need to stay on top of each weeks lectures, and use the practice sets to do your quizzes, most questions originate from there. This unit depends on paying attention and trying different techniques. Thank God that the final exam allowed us to bring in a double sided cheat sheet.

I found this course a great introductory course into finance, and was very well structured. The concepts can be quite challenging initially, however, once the concepts are understood, the course becomes quite easy.

not that bad and is really well taught in the summer (session 3 which is when i completed it). TVM was pretty overwhelming but everything else was simple

Much of the course revolves around understanding of the time value of money, There is now a heavy focus on teaching the time value of money in the opening weeks so those who stay organised from the start are generally rewarded with higher marks right throughout until the final exam. Weekly online quizzes help to understand weaknesses without a huge impact on marks or a large time burden. Very well structured course which flows from week 1-13.

A great unit to start a commerce degree. The content can be difficult for some, however the weekly quizzes helps students improve by testing their knowledge on weekly content that was studied the prior week.

Not a hard unit, people say it is but the challenging bit it Time Value of Money, get your head around this concept and the simple maths behind it, and you'll be fine. The rest of the unit is simply applications of these concepts.
