In this subject you will learn, in a collaborative interprofessional team, to develop your understanding of the foundation concepts that underpin effective professional practice as an allied health, nursing or human services professional. You will develop foundation skills in communication and reasoning, while also developing academic and information literacy skills required for successful university learning and study. An Enquiry Based Learning (EBL) approach, using clinical and professional case studies, and the Profesion Mentoring programme, will be used to support your learning and enable you to explore the Australian health care system, the collaborative nature of health care, and how consumers and professionals interact with health care at various levels.

The topic is fine however, it is the work is mostly online so it is really easy to miss due dates, and in the workshops all you are doing is copying slides from a power point, it might as well have been a lecture. Also I was never made aware of the Professional Mentoring classes, no one told me they exhibited, where they would be, or what day and time they would be on. Overall a very poorly managed subject.

Great way to begin with your studies. Puts focus to your career amidst all the general type subjects.

Look - most of the time, the content was a bit dry and boring. It was the class that I skipped the most. But with that being said, the assessment tasks, especially if you are within a particular field of health science like physio, they will really help. You get to research a bit about your course which really helps, as the first year you don't really get a taste of your course. Also, the professional mentoring that went along with it was great! But yeah - content was dry, but overall gave insight into your field.

This subject is really easy in terms of the content and assessment tasks. I felt the marking of assessments was not harsh at all. The readings were unnecessary to understand the content as majority of it is explained in the videos. However the assessment quizzes did draw from these readings so make sure you do them before the quizzes.

I enjoyed the subject but found it hard to revise for the exam because no guidance was given. Very broad content so made studying difficult. Exam was very politically incorrect - a major thing they were drilling into us in the subject. Overall, a bit disappointing.

I enjoyed the content in this subject, it was good in terms of learning how to work with clients. It would have been nice to have lectures, as it was hard to revise for the exam.

I didn't like how everything was basically online and that we had minimal assessment tasks which put a lot of pressure to get them all perfect. Being one of the first subjects the new uni students went through made it a whole heap worse. I also didn't like how it was mandatory to go to every professional mentoring class, even if you had a medical certificate, resulting in me loosing 10% of my overall mark.

Wasn't overly keen on this topic.. There was a lot of group work and I didn't really like the way in which we 'learnt' the content
