About the Author

Glenn Kraige is Professor in the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics at Virginia Tech. He is a fellow member of the American Society for Engineering Education, and received his Ph. D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia.

    The first book by Marian was very difficult for most young college students in Mech. Eng. .

    Then the publisher hooked this author up with another co-author and things got easier for students to understand this often scary subject.

    It looks at plane motion and 3 dimensional motion which often uses vectors and other math tools to get an understanding of what is going on with these motions in varying situations.

    Dynamics usually involves looking at what forces create such varying motions in 2 or 3 dimensions.

    Dynamics often uses Relative equations to solve certain types of motions.

    This book is now in 9th edition and the original author has passed away but he gets much credit to initiate a major look on how to methodically solve many interesting dynamic engineering problems.

    The "Student Value Edition" of Engineering Mechanics Dynamics delivers the same content as the regular textbook, but because does not have color pictures (gray scale is used instead) the cost of the book could be reduced significantly, I mean like 80% discount if you buy a used one in good conditions! Besides that, nothing else is different. I wish all the other Editors would do the same for their textbooks.
