From the Publisher
Allan Seabridge was until recently the Chief Flight Systems Engineer at BAE Systems at Warton in Lancashire in the UK. In over 30 years in the aerospace industry his work has latterly included the avionics systems on the Nimrod MRA 4 and Lockheed Martin Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter) as well as a the development of a range of flight and avionics systems on a wide range of fast jets, training aircraft and ground and maritime surveillance projects. Spending much of his time between Europe and the US, Allan is fully aware of systems developments worldwide. he is also keen to encourage a further understanding of integrated engineering systems. An interest in engineering education continues with the design and delivery of systems and engineering courses at a number of UK universities at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

3.0 out of 5 stars Terrible quality pages. Good content.
Verified PurchaseWould have been 4 stars if just rated on content and not tangible quality. I bought the paperback version new for £16.97. You get what you pay for. Poor quality book with pages so thin you can see the words on the other side of the page and pictures and diagrams are not crisp. The absence of colour makes several of the diagrams difficult to understand. The normal £80+ for the better quality book is extortionate and I will not pay it. Why isn't there a paperback version for about £30 to £40 with decent pages?
The actual content of the book is reasonable giving a good appreciation of each system. However if you a looking for a lot of detail about a particular system / currently work on a system, it is unlikely to provide you with anything new on your system. It does help you understand the other systems you are less familiar with though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Endlich ein System Überblick

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Overview at an Engineering Level
Verified PurchaseI bought this book to help train our younger engineers in aircraft systems. Although our company's various groups specialize in hydraulics, fuel and electrical/lighting systems, I needed a good reference for the other systems that closely interface with ours. This book fits that role perfectly.
The training went very well and the book was indeed well received. In fact, one of our senior engineers hijacked the book and read it cover to cover over a weekend, and I almost had to pry it out of his hands to continue the training the following week.
The topics that are very well treated include flight controls, especially the more electric controls such as the EHA and IAP. The fuel system and software development are also very well treated, but in fact all the topics are very comprehensive.
Most aircraft systems books seem to be geared toward pilots and mechanics and therefore do not deal with issues at a level that is useful for design and integration into new aircraft This book does that very well. The authors obviously know their subject thoroughly and I am grateful that they took the time and effort to create this book to share their knowledge with others.
