25 October, 2016

Room E230 Sturt Campus Flinders University

Organised by:
Nursing and Midwifery Students Association

FUNMSA is proud to be hosting a birthing kits assembly day on Tuesday the 25th of October. All Flinders University nursing and midwifery students and staff are invited to come along and help us put together the birthing kits. Even if you can only help for an hour, we would love to see you there.

We will be assembling 600 birthing kits.

Some drinks and nibbles will be provided but feel free to bring a plate to share as well.

The birthing kits provide the seven cleans for childbirth in third world countries - a clean birth site, clean hands, clean ties, clean cut, clean eyes, clean umbilical cord and clean perineum. The kits include a plastic sheet, soap, plastic gloves, sterile blade, three cords and five gauze squares.

BKFA is an organisation dedicated to improving the conditions for women all over the world by providing clean birthing kits and training in how to use them. Though each kit costs less than a cup of coffee, its simple contents give midwives and mothers the resources to reduce infection and fatalities.
