Reviews
Content was very dry and lectures were boring and not presented as well as they could have. The pracs are large so not much assistance can be given. Make sure you have reliable people for the group presentation.

This unit is so interesting and easy !!!. It is even more easier for someone who has done biology before, but if not its still achievable to get HD in this unit with just a little effort.

I loved this unit! Jillian is a great lecturer and she takes the time to go through things with you individually if you have any trouble with areas of the content. There's a lot of content and it is a little hard to keep up with all of the new information if you haven't done any biology before, but it's a super interesting unit and worth the extra study time!

I really enjoyed this unit. The pracs were great and the demonstrators were extremely helpful. I learned a lot in this unit and gained a mark of 89% which im very proud of. However Peter Beach is a little intimidating in person, although he is a great lecturer.

Cells and Genes is an amazing introductory unit to Biological Science. It covers a broad range of areas in biology, which provides a healthy foundation to science. Whilst it is challenging to grasp the large amount of newly introduced biological jargon, everything is presented in enough detail for you to understand it, even if you've never studied biology before. Additionally, the practical laboratory experiments are tremendously educative in the sense that you are literally taught how to interpret and communicate laboratory observations in multiple different ways.
