This subject can be challenging for some students. I found this subject to be pretty interesting and challenging. Tips I would give to students who will do this subject: 1. If you are confused about a topic, find yourself a tutor from this website. 2. Always complete quizzes right after the topic has been discussed during lectures. Never complete quizzes a day before or during the deadline. Students who follow this tip tend to perform well in this unit. 3. Always attend seminars. They are a great way to boost your confidence regarding challenging topics. Attempt to do seminar questions and make sure you ask your lecturer if you are unable to do any question. 4. Always do some revision after every lecture. Find some questions from your textbook to work on.

Yes it's a leap from high school chemistry but the first Prac and first few classes give you an idea. Pracs are super easy. Exam even easier because it's literally the same as the sample one they go through WITH you. The online quizzes are much much muuuuch harder. But they keep you on track.

If you like chem, great subject, can get a little difficult, found exam was very difficult

Big jump from sle133.

You do x5 pracs each worth 8% each. 10 quizzes each worth 2% each. Exam worth 40%. TIPS: 1. Do your practical worksheet BEFORE the prac class and you'll get at least a distinction each time. The prac report that you submit at the end of each prac class is available before the practical class, so do the questions before hand so you're not stuck in the prac class for the full 3 hours. This is an easy way to rack up marks in the prac, the actual experiments are pretty easy and you'll do fine 2. Start the quizzes early. Don't do all 3 attempts the day before the due date. Do 1 attempt each week, whatever you get wrong get help on it and repeat. This way you'll do well on the quizzes. Just a heads up, Quiz 4 on chemical thermodynamics is a quiz most students don't do well in, so make sure to get help on it. 3. Stay up to date with the content. It is really really easy to fall behind in this unit. Make sure you dedicate some extra time to this unit so you're up to date with the content. 4. The practical exam is the best revision for the actual exam. The Trimester 2 2017 exam was identical to the practice exam. All the big mark questions were pretty much the same. 3-4 questions were different. If you understand the practical exam, you should do very well in the actual exam. 5. Get help as soon as you need it. Go to cloud deakin, visit the lecturer, go to pass classes or visit the new studiosity free online tutoring offered by Deakin university to get help. All the best!

This is a leap above SLE133 so make sure you have a very strong understanding of basic concepts. The lectures were well set out but the pracs and tutorials were horrible! The tutor didn't give any guidance in the pracs and the questions were very hard in relation to the lecture information. The tutor couldn't explain topics well in tutorials so left us more confused than ever. Strongly recommend to get a tutor or make a study group because it's very hard to do well in this unit.

Was a good subject, very well structured. I managed a Credit, and I am not very good at Chemistry. Quite a relaxed pace, but I don't recommend slacking off.

SLE155 is a more difficult subject than SLE133. If you intend to do SLE155, make sure you have a good foundation in SLE133.
