Ask any successful person and they will tell you that networking is a key element in kickstarting and moving one’s career forward. Your network is your networth. The art of developing powerful relationships can do wonders for one’s career. Research shows that the best jobs are never advertised and 85% of all jobs are secured through networking.

Developing important interpersonal skills and building a network is somthing that often gets put to the side and left until you're a few years into the first job that popped up. Put yourself ahead while you're still studying and create the opportunities you want for yourself.

Coming to share his wealth of knowledge and expericence with us is Scott Kilmartin. Scott has started 5 businesses in 3 countries and is a previous winner of City of Melbourne Business of the Year.

Scott, an early embracer of social networking will talk the merits of the shaking hand in person (it’s more Trudeau than Trump), why networking is more like LeBron going one on one than dealing cards in a casino and how to enter the room before you actually show up to events. How networking has an image problem, but it’s easier in the Meet Up era. LinkedIn might be the nerdy kid in a room full of DJs but it’s the unloved powerhouse. Come along and find out the number 1 mistake people - especially jobs seekers - make when building a network.
