Fossils Beach

Organised by:
Science Society Burwood

Hey Science Lovers!

We're running an amazing FREE expedition to beautiful Fossil Beach on the Mornington Peninsula. Come and enjoy one of Melbourne’s most beautiful and biodiverse beaches.

ANYONE is welcome (you do not need to be a Deakin student)! So come along and bring friends and family! We will be meeting at Fossil Beach @ 11:30AM and finishing at 3PM.

We have organised a FREE minibus for those interested. Please arrive at Deakin by 10:00am as the bus leaves at 10:30am. You must register in order to be on this bus (LIMITED SEATS)! This bus will return you to Deakin at the conclusion of the excursion.

Public transport is also an option, just keep in mind it is on a SUNDAY.

Unfortunately we are not able to organise loads of buses, so please try and find a way down there either driving yourself or carpooling (road trip, woo!) or public transport. If you miss out on a seat, you will have to make your own way there and meet us at fossil beach.

The day will be run by our kindly very own experts-in-the-field Dr Mark Warne, Dr Sanja van Huet and Dr Liz Weldon who will be able to tell you all there is to know about fossils. But if living things are more your thing, Associate Professor Peter Beech is at the ready for all your intertidal biota questions.

Make sure to bring sensible footwear and sun protection!
