The LSS is excited to announce that the speaker for the annual Clayton-Utz Women in Law Breakfast will be Dr Helen Watchirs OAM, ACT Human Rights and Discrimination Commissioner and ACT Public Advocate.

Dr Watchirs has a distinguished resume, having acted as the human rights legal advisor to UNAIDS in Geneva, undertaken legal officer roles in the Attorney-General’s department and the Federal Attorney-General’s Department (Human Rights Branch) and completed a PhD with the ANU College of Law in 2001. Her dedication to the fields of public law and human rights over the last 30 years has been recognized with high honours. Dr Watchirs received an Order of Australia Medal for her services to Human Rights in the ACT in 2010 and the Telstra’s ACT Business Woman of the Year Award in the Community and Government sector in 2012.

We are absolutely looking forward to hearing Dr Watchirs’ thoughts on women in the law!
